Concrete staining appeals to many people who want to achieve unique decorative effects for a reasonable cost.  Not only does concrete staining allow you to add color to your concrete, it also produces an opaque effect and translucent tone to help create a beautiful surface. The Stamped Concrete Guys offers two types of concrete staining which are acid stains and water-based stains.
 

Acid Stains

Acid stains are made up of metallic salts dissolved in an acid and water solution. They penetrate into the surface and react chemically with the concrete to form a permanent stain. This will create translucent coloring which results in rich tones and marbling effects.
 

Water-based Stains

Water-based stains usually is a blend of acrylic polymers and pigments which fill the pores of the concrete surface to produce a colored surface. There is no chemical reaction in a water-based stain so the color will be more consistent than an acid stain.
