Stamped concrete is a popular driveway and decking option. It is important to properly install the stamped concrete the first time or you may encounter several problems after which may be very costly for homeowners. It would be smart move to have one of the professionals from the Sampled Concrete Guys install the stamped concrete for you to your home if you do not want to encounter any of these problems. Once the stamped concrete is installed properly, it is important to maintain it correctly. Here are two important tips from the Stamped Concrete Guys to help properly maintain stamped concrete.

Cleaning

The best way to clean your stamped concrete is using a mild detergent and broom to rinse the concrete with water. It is important to keep the surface free of debris otherwise there may be permanent stains. Removing stains such as dirt and tire marks can often be a hassle if the mild detergent and water are not strong enough to remove them. In some cases, you may have to use chemicals to remove the stains. Do not use acid-based cleaners as they will destabilize and ruin the color of the concrete.

Sealing

A sealant is used during the installation of stamped concrete to protect it from damage and maintain the color. Sealing is the best way to protect stamped concrete from moisture penetration, freeze-thaw conditions, de-icing chemicals and abrasion. Reapply your sealant over your stamped concrete every 2-3 years to keep your stamped concrete in good shape for every season. Make sure to never apply a sealer to a wet surface or it may ruin the stamped concrete. Also, never use salt on stamped concrete, to melt ice or snow because it trickles into the pores of the concrete which causes damage to the concrete.
